Think: Dominic West, Idris Elba, Wendell Pierce, Lance Reddick, Larry Gilliard Jr., Deirdre Lovejoy, Sonja Sohn, John Doman, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andre Royo, Seth Gilliam.

That’s right: we now have the full run of HBO’s The Wire — all five seasons.

Available now for you to view and enjoy — DVDs are at the Law Library Loan Desk.

(FYI: the discs include a ‘gag reel’ — enjoy)

Video, book and law journal synergy – Story of Qiu Ju

The Law Library recently ordered a DVD of Zhang Yimou’s film “Story of Qiu Ju” (Qiu Ju da Guansi). Earlier this week, the library received the book “Cinema, Law and State in Asia,” which includes a chapter titled “Did Qiu Ju Get Good Legal Advice?” by the doyen of Chinese legal studies, Jerome Cohen, with Joan Lebold Cohen.  Further analysis of Zhang’s film appears in the latest issue of the International Journal of Legal Information. See “Peasants, Tanners and Psychiatrists: using films to teach comparative law” by Joseph Dellaenna p.156.  Now there is no excuse for not viewing “The Story of Qiu Ju.”
